Becoming Adaptive Experts

Will relevant, mentor guided learning, change the way students learn?  If so, could it change the way we view learning?

Schools seem to be places where the teacher "Sage" is the knowledge giver, while the students are to sit quietly, listen and learn.  Dennis Littky said "It is so sad to me that at the time when kids have the most energy and excitement, they spend most of their days in a boring, nothing place".

I believe there is a better way for students to learn, and be excited while doing so.  The term "Teacher" is an outdated, I prefer to use the term "Learning Designer".  A Learning Designer is one who creates relevant learning experiences for students to create knowledge from, then be able to transfer that knowledge to other subject areas , or experiences.
